Cherokee- the146th search language on Google

Google with its incredible list of search languages, adds yet another to its arsenal as Cherokee. Cherokee which is on the peril of becoming extinct is another Native American language. This merger of Google and The Cherokee Nation thus appears extremely valuable for both the parties involved.

Touted to be the 146th language on Google Search List, the two individuals who headed this front are Klinon and Elmer Fudd.

Interested on what Cherokee and Google together will look like? You can easily switch to this language by selecting the Language Tools Page on right top corner of search box. Easy, isn’t it? So, to know how this will look like, just set it as your default language on Google Homepage

Also, Google has added a virtual keyboard on screen to help users have the real feel.

This post will further throw light on the fact that why Cherokee and why not any other for Google?

Developed by Sequoyah in the 19th century, Cherokee is a syllabary writing system. He while creating the same wished his people to benefit from the power this writing system had. The 85 characters developed by him were later modified in a printing press in 1820. The characters that finally got shape resembled Latin and Greek symbols. Despite their look, the pronunciation was totally distinct. This modified script rapidly became a dominance of Cherokee books, newspapers and pamphlets. This helped Cherokee people preserve their language and help it enjoy the fame that it till day does as being the most spoken languages in states of North Carolina and Oklahoma.

Great stuff! This release was followed by a statement from The Cherokee Nation, who think it is a great way of keeping the Language alive in the real world by helping it become a part of the virtual one.

A great step by Google is an amazing way of keeping these languages alive. Google is the online leader and when its Google advertising something like this, it’s sure to bag followers that the others mediums may have failed to acquire even with constant efforts.

So, Google, great work, let’s see what other language you will now include to become a saver, yet again.
