Firefox Success Stats - A Quick Report by Pingdom

Firefox 4 - what makes it so popular?

Firefox’s latest addition Firefox 4 represents a HUGE success on World Wide Web. Its massive downloads; positive responses have truly created a celebration time at Mozilla. A recent Infographic which can throw some more light on this front that how Mozilla got where it actually is, has now been constructed by Pingdom. So, let’s take a look at what this has to say.

The stats that came up are a combined remuneration from Wikipedia, Mozilla and Net Applications, with of course Pingodm as the creator. One section of this Infographic throws light on download count which has surpassed the 1.35 billion mark since 2004 and indicates that currently more than 400 million web users are using Mozilla as the preferred browser. Also, more than half of these users are surfing the web while using Mozilla’s non-English versions.

Now, from the add-ons front- Stats show that 200,000 add-ons have been crafted and more than 33% users have at least one of these installed on their browser and in totality more than 2.4 billion download count has already been achieved.

Another great milestone Mozilla needed to overcome initially was a head on competition with the market dominated leaders Microsoft who already had their IE sharing 90% of market, during Mozilla’s launch. But, Mozilla even then succeeded in becoming the winner by taking over the web.

The official download count of Firefox 4 recently saw a huge increase and while this article was being written, the figure had already got pretty over the 17,090,377 mark.

Astounding dude, great work, keep going!

I've been using Firefox for years now and think it's a great browser. No wonder they've done so well. They've got tons of great add-ons and widgets to help with SEO, for those of us in the biz. I can't see myself ever changing. Thanks for the info!

Firefox has earned every bit of success they have gotten. It's a great browser and they really have a good grasp on what the user wants. Every seo company out there likes their add ons for seo purposes, like Topher said. Seoquake itself is worth using firefox all on its own. Thanks!
